Biobanks

Biobanks have been heralded as essential tools for enabling the translation of medical research into practice u2013 diving precision and personalised medicine to improve pathways for global healthcare treatment and services. Considerable investment of time and resource into biobanking has come to be recognised as a hallmark of advanced research programmes internationally.

Our services is home to a number of biobanks including the Hunter Cancer Biobank, Virtual biobank, Mark Hughes Foundation Brain Bank as well as several additional collections of non-cancerous samples.

Our largest collection, the Hunter Cancer Biobank is a biobanking program which recognises the unique needs of Hunter residents with cancer and likewise the excellence of our cancer researchers. We are proud to partner with patients, clinicians and researchers to provide world class facilities right here in the Hunter.
